In order to prepare for patch 1.8 (yeah i know...a little late for this post as patch 1.8 comes out in the next 48h lol).....but hey ....here it is anyway !

As we know from the various Rift 1.8 patch notes, as well as the estimated release date, we're nearing that time (Rift 1.8's release!). As a result, there are some things you need to take in to consideration now, rather than later. Trust me, it'll help you in the long-run!

If you're interested in older world event items, farm and convert your Glass Beads now, as the Moneychanger NPC's will be gone after the current event is over! The Glass Beads can be farmed via rifts, invasions (and world events), as well as obtained by doing the world event quests The Moneychanger can then turn them into any of the older currencies at a rate of 1:1!

■If you haven't learned about the new professions Fishing and Survival, you may want to do so! We have both a written and video guide for these.
■
You may want to check out our Rift 1.8 leaderboards preview to find some things you're interested in and work towards increasing your effectiveness in them (such as good AoE farming areas, or faster clearing of dungeons) to lock in your spot as the top!

If your interest is more in the area of making your character(s) more effective, make sure you check out the patch notes. At this point there are a total of two sets that relate to the classes. Patch Notes Set #1, Patch Notes Set #2. Note: these are all based on the Alpha test server and are subject to change before they go live. Use these as a general guideline to help give yourself a head-start but understand that they are not set in stone

If you're a raider, start working on getting the best gear you can now as the new raid instance Infernal Dawn will be releasing (Note: It has not been stated how long after 1.8 this will be released)

New items called Seals will be available. Check out the image here showing the different ones. The better ones will come at a cost of 8 Master Craftsman Marks each and are available from the different profession masters (Artificer, Outfitter, Apothecary, Armorsmith and Weaponsmith each have two).




With Rift 1.8 comes some new changes you'll need to prepare for, and some things (such as the Moneychanger) will not remain in the game, so the window of opportunity is closing! If you joined too late to grab one of the new mounts that are part of the Carnival of the Ascended, don't worry: you can obtain both of them in 1.8!
